Medieval nerdery
Nerdy Num Num

Today it’s time to put on my old Viking/early medieval clothes and get going to meet up with the other guys from the reenactment group I participate in.
There’s a medieval Christmas market downtown and we’re hanging out there for some drinks by the fire. Not the most authentic market so I don’t feel that bad about not having a proper cloak to wear. As a substitute I’m using a coat that I made from a fabric copied from a Viking diamond twill find in Birka (the one underneath the belt and the clasp in the picture). That will have to do today.
I’m also leaving my broken Viking shoes at home and will stick to modern boots. Better to stay warm and comfortable when the demand for authenticity isn’t that high.
